Tour description

Things to do in Budapest! An excursion to Gödöllő, to the times of the Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy.

Hungary's biggest  baroque castle and smallest Marian column, the oldest, still playing Baroque theatre, the second biggest surfaced palace of the world after Versailles, the largest portrait gallery of kings and queens,  - that is Gödöllő's famous Grassalkovich Castle. The palace's most famous inhabitants were Austrian Emperor and Hungarian King Franz Joseph I and his wife, Elizabeth, known all over the world as Sissi, who used it as a summer  residenze between 1867 and 1916. Visit together the magnificent, white and gold rooms of the castle, the Grand Hall, the Library, the writing room of Franz Joseph and the wardrobe of Sissi, the Baroque theater,  the Ballroom, the Ceremonial Hall and the Castle Church. Learn all about the history of Grassalkovich Castle, the Austrian-Hungarian Monarch and the life of Queen Elizabeth. After a guided tour of the castle  you'll have time for a walk in the park-like gardens and a visit of the Royal Stables, or you may enjoy some coffee and cake in the Palace Cafe.

Upon request "puszta program" with horseshow, riding and typical Hungarian lunch can be arranged in the nearby Lázár Horsepark.
