Bratislava is one of the oldest Celtic towns, the boarder of Roman empire, the western bulwark of Hungarian Kingdom, the last marine port of Danube during the Middle Ages, the town of merchants and craftsmen with rich vineculture tradition, and the Coronation town of Hungarian Kings for more, than 200 years.
We visit the Castle, the St. Martin Chatedral and the Old Town (St. Michael Gate, City Hall, Bishop Palace, Roland Fontain, Napoleon House and more), the National Theater, the New Bridge and the Grassalkovich Castle. Lunch - traditional Slovak and Czech dishes with excellent local beer - can be arranged in the newest venue of the city, the Patron Brewery floating on the Danube, offering a breathtaking panorama of Bratislava.
On the way we stop in Fertőd's famous Esterházy Castle, called also the Hungarian Versaille and Nagycenk Castle of the Széchenyi family, both offering a splendid insight of Hungarian aristrocracy's life in the 18th-19th century, and the reformage (1820'), the precious collection of the Széchenyi family, and the life of Count István Széchenyi , the "greatest Hungarian".
